What’s Up With Jared? May 3, 2009

Hello everyone. I just wanted to post a message letting everyone know what’s going on with my life and the future of How to Be Happy.

Yesterday I started my LAST class (Strategic Management) for my MBA program. The class runs six weeks with the last day of class on June 12th. I can’t believe my teammates and I are almost there!

The very next morning (June 13th) at 5:30 a.m. my wife and I will be on a plane headed for Curaçao for a week! Yay SCUBA diving!

Up to this point, I have really tried to make one good post a week here on How to Be Happy. My goal has been two but I haven’t quite done that. I DO have a ton of content I want to get to. I use BackPackIt to keep track of all my ideas and there’s tons of stuff I have in the pipeline. It’s just hard with school getting tougher and consuming more of my time to get two posts a week. Not to mention my full time job and new granddaughter!

I did however re-do my About page as part of the 31 Days to Build a Better Blog Challenge—which I’m NOT doing in 31 days believe me—so be sure to check it out.

I’m just asking for all of you who read How to Be Happy to hang in there, and please don’t unsubscribe because you don’t get 2-3 new posts every week. Once school is over, I plan on getting my groove on! Like I said, I have a lot of GREAT stuff to share. I also may try some shorter, more to the point posts. I know some day’s, when going through my RSS reader, I don’t feel like spending 20 minutes reading a long post. But I also don’t want to limit myself either. Just letting my feelings flow is what this is about right?

Thanks again for reading and please leave any comments on what I can do to make How to Be Happy better!

I’m hangin’ in there! I appreciate you writing this post. I feel like a lot of bloggers don’t write for awhile and never say why or if they will be back. This leaves readers wondering, “Should I stop coming by?” Thanks for the update!

Best wishes with all the things on your plate right now! We’ll look forward to getting more news after school and your trip (and scuba diving) are memories … and of course you have to keep some good chunks of time open for your granddaughter. (My preschooler is fortunate enough to have all four of his grandparents close by, and those relationships are priceless. Get in all the hugs possible!)

@emily-sarah
Thanks for the heads up on the hugs!!

Isn’t there just something so great about people that aren’t afraid to give a hug. Or even greater yet, witnessing the change in some one who was once broken and alone then to see them reach out and be part of something greater. Once they felt they had nothing to offer and soon realize by giving or receiving a simple hug they’re giving something special… (sorry I digressed there a little)

Yes I should be working on homework right now!
Thanks for the comment!

Mate I’ll be hanging in there. Good luck with powering through to the end of the MBA. I’m sure your holiday will be awesome. You’ve been doing awesome as is, so I’ve got nothing to offer on how to do this better.

Be like a tree, and a human. ;)

Hah – One of my pet peeves is when I sign up to receive a blog or updates and get inundated with way more posts or emails than I have time to read with full attention. I’d be good with one a week – yours are meaty enough I want time to digest them. I want to see a new post in Google Reader and think “Oh good, Jared posted!”, not “Oh God, where am I going to get time to read all this stuff?”
Have a great trip.

@Gypsy Jane,
That’s cool. Thanks for the insight. You know I’m the same way. I love reading good content, but when I don’t get to a certain feed in my RSS reader for a week and I see there are 5-12 new updates… I usually flip through them quickly, only looking at some briefly, more than likely this is when I unsubscribe or re-evaluate if they offer anything I really want to keep up with.

Thanks for the “meaty” comment also! ;-)

Hi Jared, well I haven’t signed up yet, but will after I’ve posted this comment.

I was going to say just what Gypsy said! I actually look for blogs now that have good content and don’t post too often! That way I know I can truly appreciate their value: I can’t speed read at all, so I have to be selective and take my time and enjoy reading:)

So, focus on your studies and enjoy Curacao after.

Look forward to your posts as and when they come…
